Also called alternate universe. A separate universe or world that coexist with our known universe but is very different from it. In quantum physics, parallel universe is theorised as existing alongside our own, although undetectable.

From where did the claims of  NASA's discovery of parallel universe come about?

It all started after a report by new scientist about an experiment by astrophysicist came out. It came discussing about some anomalous results coming from neutrino detection experiment ANITA in Antarctica and what these could mean for a speculative cosmological model that posits there is an antimatter universe extending backwards from the BigBang.

The featured report was then curated by some online media outlets, and the whole issue snowballed and became the talk of the town.

What is ANITA and anomalous detections in Antarctica?

Four years ago, the Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna(ANITA) experiment - a high altitude helium balloon with an array of radio antennas partially funded by NASA.

ANITA detected evidence of high-energy particles called 'Neutrinos' coming up from the earth's surface with no source back in 2016, then again in 2018. There was no credible explanation for this.

Because of that, a recent press release that accompanied a research paper on the subject said, "Other explanations for the anomalous signals- possibly involving exotic physics- need to be considered."

Going by what the scientists have actually said, it's clear that these are exciting times for the astrophysicist trying to find an explanation with more "exposure and sensitivity" will be required to get a clear understanding of anomaly.
